Polina Sabinin, Ed.D.

Dr. Polina Sabinin is a mathematics education professor. She loves to help practicing teachers, future teachers, as well as kids and their parents see mathematics as beautiful, understandable, powerful, and … FUN! At Bridgewater State University, through her work on the Games Teachers Play project, she has collected over 100 games which help kids strengthen their mathematical reasoning in interactive and enjoyable ways. Polina has co-authored Smart Cookies (a brain boosting logic game) and is working on an interactive software which will help teachers bring logic into their classrooms. In Georgia, she is researching the mathematics education in primary schools and providing professional development for Engage in Math, focusing on logical and spacial reasoning. Polina spent summers in Georgia with her family when she was a child, co-lead an undergraduate research trip to Georgia in 2016 and study tour in 2017, and is very excited to be back again this year!

Dr. Nicole Glen is an elementary science education professor. She loves working with pre-service and
in-service teachers to help them experience the wonders of science and the joys of engineering. Most recently, her projects have included teaching her sons' third grade and kindergarten classes STEM, such as forces and motion, magnetism, and more. At Bridgewater State University, she created a series of science and engineering workshops for the early childhood and elementary education majors. She also enjoys teaching science methods courses, mentoring honors students, and working with the NSF Robert Noyce Science Teacher Scholars program on her campus. She is the mother of an 8 year old son, 5 year old son, and 3 year old daughter. Her husband is an earth science teacher at a local high school. She is very excited to be traveling back to Georgia for the third year.

Michael Rosen
Michael Rosen is an elementary education graduate student. He loves working with elementary school students on a variety of different subjects, especially science related material. Michael has recently completed pre-practicum teaching units for several courses through his program. This included a science unit on magnetism for 3rd grade students at the Arnone School in Brockton, Massachusetts. In Georgia, Michael will be conducting lessons on magnetism and will be gathering information to complete a research project related to STEM education. Michael became recently engaged to his Fiancé and also became a parent to a Labradoodle puppy named “Newton”. Michael is excited to be immersed in the Georgian culture and use this experience to better himself as a person and future educator.

Dana Brangaitis
Dana Brangaitis is a mathematics major who just graduated with her bachelors degree from Bridgewater State University! She loves working with kids and wants to eventually become a high school math teacher. Before attending Bridgewater, Dana studied electrical engineering at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in New York. She also participated in the Disney College Program in 2017. Dana is the proud owner of two puppies, Tyler and Kora. After Georgia, she will be moving to Texas. While in Georgia, she will be conducting a lesson focused around photography. Dana is thrilled to see what Georgian life and culture are like!

Simone Greaves is an Early Childhood Education major with a second major in English and minor in Reading. Simone is now a graduate of Bridgewater State University as of this May, but could not give up another opportunity to travel, teach and learn about a different culture. Simone loves working with all students but has a special passion for Pre-K to second grade. Simone has just completed her student teaching placement both in Fall River, MA, and San Pedro, Belize. She also completed another study tour last year in Belize for education. Simone is originally from the Caribbean and has experience in teaching and daycare in the Caribbean, UK and the US. Simone considers herself a global citizen and therefore wants to add Georgia as another country on her global passport. She is excited to teach and learn new techniques as well as interact with students. Simone believes that travel and education should go hand in hand and she is visiting as many countries and as many schools to ensure her strongest attribute is diversity and the understanding of other cultures so as to be a comfort to students in her future classrooms.

Jose dos Anjos, BSN, RN, RRT
Jose is a Bridgewater State University Alumni who majored in History. He taught current events and bilingual US and world history in Massachusetts. He also taught special education earth science and economics in Hawaii. After 5 years of teaching at the middle school and high school level, he became a respiratory therapist in long term acute rehabilitation for six years. Jose expanded his medical background by becoming a registered nurse in psych and rehabilitation. In Georgia, Jose will be focusing on relevant health issues with high school students.
